Finland and far beyond
We have been among the very first to guide birdwatching and photography tours in several world-class destinations – from Varangerfjord in Norway to Hokkaido in Japan, and also Zimanga in South Africa.
While Finland remains our home, we are always exploring new destinations. Today, our carefully selected portfolio also includes beloved classics like Costa Rica – a true photographer’s paradise.

Amazing Hokkaido – Japan Wildlife Photography Tour
17 – 27 February 2026, Japan
Our 14th photography tour to Hokkaido is coming up – this destination has truly become a classic favourite! Japan’s northern island offers some of the most iconic winter photography opportunities in the world: the graceful Red-crowned Cranes, powerful Steller’s Sea Eagles and White-tailed Eagles, and the serene beauty of snowy landscapes.
What makes Hokkaido so special is not only its wildlife, but also the magnificent scenery and unique Japanese culture. We always stay two nights in each location, which gives the tour a more relaxed rhythm. It also allows time to enjoy authentic Japanese cultural touches such as traditional meals and relaxing hot spring baths – onsen – after inspiring days in the field. With Finnature’s long experience, you can be sure to capture Hokkaido’s wildlife and atmosphere at its very best.

Lapland to Varangerfjord: Bird & Wildlife Photography from Taiga to Tundra
7 – 14 April 2026, Finland & Norway
Did you know that Finnature was among the very first to guide birdwatching and photography tours to Varangerfjord, Norway? Since the 1990s, we have explored these northern landscapes with photographers, and in 2026 the programme has been renewed. This unique journey moves from Lapland’s quiet forests with Siberian Jays and Pine Grosbeaks to Arctic Norway’s dramatic seabird cliffs filled with Puffins, Razorbills and Kittiwakes. A popular Hare hide offers chances to photograph white-coated Mountain Hares – and sometimes even the elusive Arctic Fox.
