Arctic Seaducks & Puffins on Snow
16 – 23 March 2023 – FULLY BOOKED
This photography tour is timed in a way we can photograph wintering King and Steller’s Eiders, but also spring migrants such as Atlantic Puffins and other seabirds on snow in Varanger! Starting in Finnish Lapland, we have the best opportunity to photograph Pine Grosbeaks, Siberian Tits and Siberian Jays as well. This is also a great time for Aurora Borealis!

Birds & Mammals on Snow
17 – 26 April 2023 – CONFIRMED
After the long winter, spring starts to arrive to Finland in April. Migrant birds are returning and resident species are actively claiming breeding territories and partners. There is still plenty of snow on the ground, and, for example, the Black Grouse is lekking on snow. Magnificent Eagle Owl and Goshawk are visiting at the site actively. This is also a great time to photograph the large carnivores of Finland on snow – Brown Bear have awaken from their winter hibernation, and while Wolverine and Wolf stay active throughout the winter. With some luck we may also photograph some of the northern taiga forest owl species – Great Grey Owl or Hawk Owl.

Lekking Week
5 – 11 May 2023 – FULLY BOOKED
This week is about lekking! In Kuusamo, lekking of Black Grouse and Capercaillie is at its peak and females visit the lekking arenas making the cocks even more active. There are good chances to get photos of mating Grouse during this “hen week”. Elsewhere in Oulu, colorful Ruffs are arriving at the beginning of May, and by the second week, the lek will be on! During this week, photography takes place from quality photography hides.

Ruff Break

Delightful and colorful Ruffs are the stars of this short photography break to the most important wetland in Finland – Liminka Bay in Oulu area. Ruffs will be feeding in a shallow pool, offering great variation for Ruff images.

Midsummer Mammals – NEW TOUR!

This is a photography tour for keen wildlife photographers! The highlights are Brown Bears especially the cubs, Wolves and Wolverines. The nights are shortest at this time of the year, so during bright nights one can photograph throughout the night when the animals are most active. Nature will be at its most beautiful with flowering cotton grass in swamps and beautiful pale green colors in forests. We have selected the best places for photographing large carnivores in Finland!

Golden Eagles in Action

Golden Eagles visit our feeding site in Utajärvi very actively when the day is short in mid-winter. In January there can be up to ten Eagle individuals visiting the site daily – providing good opportunities to photograph Golden Eagles in action! Eagle Owl & Black Grouse
12 – 16 April 2024
Imagine Eagle Owl landing just in front of you. This night nocturnal bird is used to our lighting system and comes for the dinner. No need for flashes! Night in the Eagle Owl hide is always an unforgettable experience think about Eagle owl hooting behind the hide just before landing to the feeder. It’s just a magical moment. Experience also Black Grouse lek – dancing and fighting males in early mornign light. You can feel the spring is coming!
